A Pseudospectral Approach for Kirchhoff Plate Bending Problems with Uncertainties
This paper proposes a pseudospectral approach for the Kirchhoff plate bending problem with uncertainties. The Karhunen-Loève expansion is used to transform the original problem to a stochastic fourth-order PDE depending only on a finite number of random variables. For the latter problem, its exact solution is approximated by a gPC expansion, with the coefficients obtained by the sparse grid met...

Asymptotic Behavior of Nonlinear Transmission Plate Problem
We study a nonlinear transmission problem for a plate which consists of thermoelastic and isothermal parts. The problem generates a dynamical system in a suitable Hilbert space. Main result is the proof of asymptotic smoothness of this dynamical system and existence of a compact global attractor in special cases.
An additive average Schwarz method for the plate bending problem
The original additive average Schwarz method and its variants were introduced for solving second order elliptic boundary value problems. In this paper, we extend the original idea to fourth order problems by designing a variant of the additive average Schwarz method for the plate bending problem using the nonconforming Morley finite element for the discretization. Like the original average meth...
Geometrically Nonlinear Analysis of Plate Bending Problems
In the previous six chapters, we have discussed the application of T-elements to various linear problems. This approach can also be used to solve both geometrically [8-10,12] and materially [1,18] nonlinear problems. The former are treated in this chapter and the latter are addressed in Chapter 8. The first application of T-elements to nonlinear plate bending problems was by Qin [8], who presen...
